Quality timber auction at Harvey

15 June 2006

A large quantity of blackbutt, good quality wandoo and a high grade feature 22 tonne karri log are expected to draw buyers to the Forest Products Commission (FPC) auction on 24 June at Harvey.

With approximately 500 tonne of good quality sawlogs and feature logs the FPC is expecting to do even better than the March auction where $70,000 worth of timber were sold.

“The quality and the quantity are there. This time we have a lot more blackbutt, about 100 tonne of good quality wandoo direct from wandoo bush and a high grade feature karri log approximately 22 tonne,” said operations officer Steve Davis.

Auction lot sizes are designed to accommodate small commercial operators, craftspeople and hobbyist requiring logs or small amounts of craftwood.

Species on sale include WA jarrah, large quantity of WA blackbutt, sheoak, marri, beefwood, peppermint and karri.

Sawn timber: beefwood veneers, jarrah, marri, sheoak boards, sliced jarrah burl.

Slabs: Good quantity consisting of jarrah, marri and sheoak up to 4m lengths. PLUS: marri, jarrah and sheoak table packs (ready to build tables).

The forest products can be inspected at 64 Weir Road Harvey during normal business hours Monday to Friday by contacting Steve Davis 0427 380 632 or on the day of the auction between 8.30am and 9.30am.
