Harvesting in Peel ‘B’ planned for October

21 September 2006

The Forest Products Commission is planning a thinning operation of the Peel ‘B’ Plantation located at the intersection of Sixty Eight and Eighty Roads (Loc: 1507) Baldivis during October.

The harvested resource will supply customers in Neerabup, Dardanup and Welshpool for the production of laminated veneer lumber, structural timber and medium density fibre board.

The harvesting operation throughout the 84 hectares remaining at Peel ‘B’ form part of standard plantation management. The harvest will include portions of clearfall to facilitate future residential development of the location.

The proposed operation will commence in October for duration of four to five weeks.

In the interests of public safety, access to the work site will be restricted to operational staff and associated machinery and heavy haulage traffic.

As part of the harvest, higher volumes of heavy haulage traffic will be experienced in the vicinity. Up to 20 semi trailer trips and 10 road train trips a day are expected along Sixty Eight and south along Eighty Roads towards Stakehill Road.
In consultation with the local government authority and Main Roads, the transport of resource from the plantation will be via Sixty Eight, Eighty, Baldivis and Stakehill Roads, and onto Old Mandurah Road.
