The FPC’s 2020 planting season is underway.
Operations Officer Peta Smith said this year will see more than 3.2 million pine seedlings planted across 2350 hectares.
“You may spot some of these fresh plantings in the South West region from Busselton through to east Manjimup, Bridgetown, Collie and Harvey through to the Perth Hills,” Ms Smith said.
Ms Smith is busy supervising planting sites to ensure the seedlings are given the best chance at success as they are established.
There is approximately 13 FPC staff members managing planting works going on across 28 different plantations this year.
“It’s a challenge fitting all the planting into a six-week period, but it should be done in time,” Ms Smith said.
We wish the planting crew and silvicultural branch smooth running’s and suitably wet but also nice sunny weather to aid the work in establishing this year’s new crops.
