Dave Kelly was elected on March 9, 2013 as the member for Bassendean and re-elected as the local member in March 2017. While serving in Opposition Mr Kelly was appointed Shadow Minister for Water, Fisheries and Youth.
Following the election of the new Labor State Government he was appointed Minister for Forestry, along with Fisheries, Water, Innovation and ICT, and Science.
Mr Kelly is passionate about creating local jobs for local people in forestry through sustainable industry growth and innovation within the sector.
Prior to entering into politics Mr Kelly served as Secretary to WA’s largest union, United Voice.
The union that represents frontline staff in WA's schools, hospitals, childcare, disability and aged care centres along with cleaners, security and hospitality workers.
