SERVICES

The Forest Products Commission offers a range of services on a fee for service basis which ranges from identification of species to evaluation of timber structures. These services are available to companies, other government agencies and the general public. Some of the types of services are listed below and further enquiries should either be directed to the nominated contact or directed to the local Forest Products Commission office.

Timber Inspection Services

The Forest Products Commission has a specific Timber Inspection services for a fee for assessing sawn timber intended for use in sleepers, crossings, transmission poles and jetties. These inspections certify that timber meets requirements within Australian standards and/or client specifications.

The inspection service can also apply to existing timber structures such as fire lookout towers and board walks.

Inspection is available to the wider timber industry, government agencies and the general public, for a fee.
