Partnering with the community
As a Government agency and provider of environmental solutions, FPC believes strongly that projects and initiatives require high levels of community support and involvement to ensure long lasting success.
Developing new timber industries and tackling environmental problems are major tasks requiring large scale change, which can only be achieved through cooperative involvement of landowners, industry, community groups and Government agencies in these new partnerships.
FPC, sustainability and perfumery go hand in hand
The Natural Resources Stewardship Circle (NRSC) is an international group who promote responsible and ethical management of natural resources and biodiversity in the perfumery and natural products industries. Amongst its many initiatives, the NRSC invests heavily in social and environmental projects around the globe.
During 2009, Mr Jacques Rocher, group co-founder and president of the Yves Rocher Foundation, visited Western Australia to participate in a ceremonial tree planting at the Walitj property in Redmond on Sunday 19 April.
The ceremonial planting was to acknowledge the commencement of operational plantings on the property this winter funded largely by the Foundation, with support from Mount Romance Australia and South Coast NRM.
FPC has taken an active role in supporting the project, providing support with its expertise, staff time and supervision.
Community involvement = results
Almost 18,000 ha or 25 million new trees have been integrated into Western Australia’s wheat and woolbelt between 2005 and 2009, as part of the largest investment under the National Action Plan for Salinity and Water Quality.
The $64 million strategic tree farming (STF) project has been implemented in direct partnership with the four natural resource management (NRM) groups operating in the region, the Northern Agricultural, Avon and South West Catchment Councils, and South Coast Natural Resource Management Inc.
