INNOVATION

The Forest Products Commission has shown a strong focus on innovation within the breeding, growing and development of products in the timber industry. FPC and prior agencies have been committed to the development of low rainfall species through the Tree Breeding program since 1958.

Research is provided "in-house" and through partnerships with research institutions including the Science Division of the Department of Conservation and Land Management, CSIRO and universities or in collaboration with industry. The commission has developed products and processes (including "Valwood") that improve the utilisation of timber.
