Vision and values

FPC's Vision

FPC is committed to working with industry to ensure Western Australia has strong, viable and sustainable forest industries which contribute to vibrant regional communities.

Core purpose

To grow a sustainable and prosperous Western Australian forest industry, one which makes a positive contribution to the social fabric of rural communities.

Oragnisational mission

To contribute to Western Australia's economic and regional growth by:

  • developing the sustainable use of the State's plantation and native forest resources;
  • promoting innovation and local value adding for these resources; and
  • achieving appropriate returns to the State for the use of publicly owned and Forest Product Commission-managed plantation and native forest resources.

Objectives

  • to provide forest products to industry from publicly owned and managed plantations and native forests, consistent with management plans;
  • to increase the areas of hardwood and softwood plantations to meet regional development opportunities and environmental objectives; and
  • to promote increased levels of economic return to WA from the use of forest products via an increased level of value-added production and downstream manufacturing; contributing to the marketing of forest products; contributing to the research and development of new products and timber processing techniques; providing leadership; and promoting the environmentally sustainable sale and use of lower grade and residual material.

In providing leadership to each other, we support the FPC vision, make timely decisions, role model appropriate behaviors, tackle the hard issues, invite and provide feedback, operate as an agency-wide team, and focus on what’s possible.
