Mr Redman first entered parliament in February 2005, after successfully contesting the seat of Stirling, following the retirement of Monty House. He has been a member of several Parliamentary Committees including: Public Accounts Committee, Biofuels Taskforce, and the Economics and Industry Standing Committee – Inquiry into Production and Marketing of Foodstuffs.

Since entering parliament, Mr Redman has built a solid reputation as a staunch defender of regional interests. He has been a forceful opponent of what he calls “geography tax”, the extra costs imposed on basic services to country people, including electricity headworks charges and water licences and tariffs.

Mr Redman has strong family links dating back nearly 100 years that connect him to the South West and Great Southern Regions. His grandparents were original settlers in the Denmark and Cranbrook areas, and his parents live and work in the Manjimup Shire. Terry and his wife Marie, continue the tradition of living and working in the region. Terry and Marie have been small business owners for 7 years and prior to that, partners in a family farming operation at the Porongurup for 14 years.

With a father who was Principal of a number of country primary schools, Mr Redman’s primary schooling occurred in many regional centres around the state, from the Kimberley to Esperance, including Needilup, Doodlakine, Meckering, Goomalling and Esperance. He spent 3 years at the Swanleigh Hostel while he attended Lockridge Senior High School. Terry then attended the University of WA, graduating with a degree in Agricultural Science, Majoring in Animal Production.

Mr Redman is a very keen golfer and tennis player, he also enjoys running and generally keeping himself physically fit. He and Marie have been married for 22 years and they have two adult children currently attending university.
