Fierce bidding expected at log auction

The Forest Products Commission’s next log auction on 25 November offers a unique opportunity for wood enthusiasts to transform a valuable native log into a work of art.

There are a greater number of large individual native specie logs for sale than in previous auctions, which are held quarterly in Harvey.

Going under the hammer will be approximately 400 tonnes of assorted logs including large individual logs in karri, marri, tuart and jarrah (100 tonnes), blackbutt and sheoak. There will also be curly jarrah, woody pear, beefwood and a solid Tasmanian bluegum log.

Sawn timber will include slabs of jarrah, marri and blackbutt. sheoak, marri and possibly some blackbutt boards. Jarrah burl slices, pieces and burl caps. A small quantity of kilndried Tasmanian bluegum boards (100mm x 18mm rough sawn) and approx 60 tonnes of Eucalyptus muellerana (yellow stringy bark that has been broken down into large sawn sections suitable for further milling into flooring sizes).

The forest products can be inspected at 64 Weir Road Harvey during normal businesshours Monday to Friday by contacting Steve Davis 0427 380 632 or on the day of the auction between 8.30am and 9.30am.
