TREE FARMING PACKAGES - AVON CATCHMENT COUNCIL
Tree farming packages vary from area to area.
Depending on factors including your location and soil condition, the following tree crops may be suitable for your property:
FPC staff will conduct an obligation-free assessment of your property to determine the best tree crops for planting.
Payment Options
Farmers have different payment options under the package depending on the types of tress planted.
For maritime pine and sandalwood, two payment options are available:
Up-front – an up-front payment payable in two instalments of 50% each over the first two years of the contract with an additional cropshare entitlement of either a 15% share in timber harvesting revenue or a 10% share in timber harvesting revenue with a 10% share in carbon net revenue.
Annuity - a series of annualised payments over a predetermined term with the additional cropshare entitlement of a 2% share in timber harvesting revenue and a 10% share in carbon net revenue.
For carbon eucalypts, different payment options apply. Please consult the carbon eucalypts package information for more details
Payment entitlements indicated within this information are indicative only. Individual entitlements will be determined by the specific soil, hydrological and climatic factors of the particular property.
More information about options and indicative payment structures can be found in the following guides:
Management options
Depending on the available species, you may have a number of options regarding the management of the tree farming operations on your property.
For example, if ongoing maintenance is required, you may choose to let the FPC take care of it for you, or choose to undertake certain operations yourself - such as site preparation, planting, pruning and spraying.
Taking on these operations provides you with the opportunity to generate additional income from the project. This is a very flexible option and allows you to handle those operations that fit comfortably with your main farming activities and utilise FPC for other activities.
Farmers choosing to carry out these operations receive education and training, advice, assistance and safety inductions from qualified FPC personnel.
