RENEWABLE RESOURCES
The Commission's philosophy recognises that trees and plantations provide much more to Western Australia than financial returns - they are a renewable resource that helps to deliver on truly sustainable development. We are proud of our role in delivering these benefits to the community both in this State and overseas.
Trees and forests, running on solar power deliver:
- timber;
- salinity and watertable control;
- biomass energy;
- carbon sequestration; and
- protection and enhancement of biodiversity
Earth's mineral resources are finite, and often energy-intensive, but timber resources can be produced indefinitely, with strong environmental benefits.
For these reasons, the FPC will continue to be a strong advocate for the use of timber for building, for furniture and decorative uses in housing, and for basic everyday products like paper.
